It is an 8 speed. Rocking a period correct Corbeau racing seat, real minilites, 2bbl carb, intake manifold and a header/exhaust this little thing looked like a blast.

The owner bought the car brand new and did all of the modifications himself. If I could only post more pictures on mobile....

If someone can let me know how to add more pictures from my phone I will reward you with more sweeeeet colt rs porn!

I used to have an '80 Plymouth Champ. Kind of a fun car, not fast though. Especially with the 3 speed auto.

Last I heard you have to do it in replies. But maybe there is other tricks.

Wow! I haven't seen one of those (or thought of them) in, well, decades I guess. I remember those Colts from my younger days. What a blast from the past.

I can imagine that being an issue. This car was quickish for what it was. Not competitive in its class though.

I owned a single-year run Turbo 8-speed when I was in high school.

I always wondered if the OD would be handy on single gear autocross courses. You could shift it on the fly, and basically get another half a ratio.

Now my mind is blown. So that car was a blow thru carb setup?

His gas cap locks.

Also, I am intrigued by this 8 speed. Does he have a gear splitter, or a true 8 speed?

To post more images from mobile you have to use urls and paste them where you would like to have the images. This would require uploading them somewhere (like imgur) and getting the urls, instead of uploading them directly into the post.

ps, I was hopeful Kinja by now would have fixed annotations, but apparently you still have to click way far away from your intended target to get it to show.

They were 4x2, and the locking was a standard feature. Remember locking gas caps were all the rage back then due to the recent oil crisis.

No carb, it was throttle body FI.

Fuck that; too much work, I would go certifiably insane if I had to do all that from my phone and I'm rocking a very recent Motorola with Verizon 4G.

But whoever does go through that trouble, way to be patient! lol.

oooooooooooooooooo an 8-speed!

Every Dodge Colt is awesome. Too bad Mitsubishi and Chrysler didn't become permanent. I'd rather see a new Colt than a Dart. Japan > Italy in terms of automotive quality

Yes I do recall, I remember some cars had the gas cap release somewhere inside the car with no way of doing it from the outside.

That is so cool. Personally, I am fascinated by products like gear vendors. I would love to have a vehicle one day with one installed.

Yeah, I'm not saying it's worth it, just stating that's how you have to do it.

You could try the imgur app it might make it slightly easier.

Gear splitter. It was a 4sp manual + the splitter for econ/perf. Pretty neat.

Haha yeah, and I appreciate you weighing in, I just had an overwhelming urge to point out I'd go nuts if I ever did it that way, lol. And sometimes, maybe it is worth it. I would probably just do a post with a bunch of replies though, haha.

It looks damn near identical minus the minilites. The owner of this one claimed to be the only owner and it didnt look like it had jumped many railroad tracks as he posted on that forum. But you never know! Good find.
